Women’s soccer coach Kathy Brawn will present the lecture
HAMILTON, N.Y. (10/21/09) - On Wednesday, October 28th at 12:00pm, Colgate head women’s soccer coach Kathy Brawn will present a lecture to faculty and staff members entitled, “Thinking on Your Feet: Creating the best game strategy through the use of technology, knowledge, and emotional intelligence.”

Coach Brawn will present and discuss on a variety of techniques and strategies she has utilized over the years in helping her team prepare for different opponents, and how these strategies helped her elevate Colgate into one of the elite teams in the Patriot League.  She will speak about her approach to teaching the complex game of soccer, as well as adapting to the changing needs of today’s student-athletes.

Brawn is in her 19th season and is the winningest coach in the history of the women’s soccer program.  Under her tutelage, her teams have won 10 conference championships and earned four trips to the NCAA tournament.  She coached the only women’s program in school history to go beyond the NCAA first round by beating the University of Arizona.  She was voted Regional Coach of the Year, Colgate Coach of the Year, and Patriot League Coach of the Year numerous times.  Prior to Colgate, she coached at Yale, Princeton, and Cornell respectively. 

This lecture is open to all Colgate University employees as well as the entire Hamilton community.  Lunch will be served.
