SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (10/26/09) – The Colgate University women's rowing team competed in four events at the Head of the Fish in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., on Sunday, Oct. 25.
In the women’s 2x, Colgate clinched the second, third and forth place spots. Tufts University finished in first place with a time of 14:56.82. Thirteen teams participated in the race. Vicky Hulit and Lauren Schmetterling finished in second place with a time of 15:24.39. Annabelle Glass and Shannon Jackson finished in third place with a time of 15:28.91. In forth place was Meredith Buerger and Elspeth Monigle with a time of 15: 37.22
The women’s 4x finished in 3rd place with a time of 14:44.56. The crew consisted of Laura Crawford (Coxswain), Britt Woodbury (stroke), Kristen Kellstrom (3-seat), Katie Johnescu (2-seat) and Lauren Davis (bow). Five teams participated in the race. UMass Women’s A and B teams took first and second place, respectively with times of 13:13.55 and 14:09.31.
The novice 8 of Jackie Ball (coxswain), Stephanie Hamilton (stroke), Louisa Jelaco (7-seat), Natalie Bauman (6-seat), Larissa Pauli (5-seat), Katie Rice (4-seat), Kate Thomson (3-seat), Cory Berg (2-seat) and Amy Cayce (bow) took forth place out of 28 teams with a time of 13:52.95. Williams A finished in 1st place with a time of 13:12.35. St. Lawrence finished in second place with a time of 13:20.20 and UMass A finished in third place with a time of 13.52.02.
The novice 4 of Jackie Ball (coxswain), Katie Rice (Stroke), Jayne Tamboia (3-seat), Caitlin Mayhew (2-seat), and Gabriella Cambanis (bow) raced to a eleventh place finish out of 18 boats in 17:31.7. The Williams A and B teams took first and second place with times of 14:03.95 and 14:56.60, respectively. The UMass Women’s B team raced to finish in third place with a time of 15:01.79.
The raiders will be back on the water on Halloween, October 31st, at the Syracuse Invitational in Syracuse, NY.
