Men's Tennis Set For Patriot League Tournament Play

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. (4/15/09) -   The Colgate men’s tennis team has secured the No. 2 spot in the Patriot League Tournament, giving them a first round match-up against No. 7 Holy Cross. The men are slotted to begin first round play on Friday, April 17 at 3 p.m.

 

The winner of Friday’s round will face the winner of the No. 3 seed Army/No. 6 seed Lafayette match, on Saturday at 2 p.m.  Also playing in the quarterfinal round on Friday is No. 4 seed Bucknell against No. 5 seed Lehigh.  Navy won a bye in the first round as the No. 1 seed, but will face the winner of the Bucknell/Lehigh match-up on Saturday at 9 a.m.  The Championship round is scheduled for Sunday, April 19 at 1 p.m.

 

The Raiders did not face Holy Cross during the 2009 regular season, but finished with a 4-1 record in the conference, with their only loss coming against top-seeded Navy.  Colgate does have wins against both Army and Lafayette this season.  Holy Cross finished the season 0-3 in Patriot League play after falling to Army, Lafayette and Lehigh. 

 

All tournament games will be played at the Malek Tennis Center on the Army campus in West Point, N.Y.
