Golf Places Sixth at Patriot League Championships

WEST POINT, N.Y. (4/27/09) -   The Colgate men’s golf team finished in sixth place at the 2009 Patriot League Championships held at Army’s West Point Golf Course over the weekend.  

 

Bucknell captured the Championship title with a score of 884 (+44), five strokes ahead of the second place Midshipmen of Navy (889, +49).  Army finished in third place with and 891 (+51) followed by Lehigh (899, +59), Lafayette (911, +71), Colgate (923, +51) and Holy Cross (952, +112).  

 

The Raiders top finisher was freshman Ben Jessen (Simsbury, Conn.) who tied for 20th place after shooting a three round total of 233 (79-76-78).  Montek Mayal (New Delhi, India), David Ake (Topsfield, Mass.) and Chase Williams (Columbus, Ohio) rounded out Colgate’s top finishes, all placing in the top 25.  Mayal shot an 80, 80 and a 74 for a total of 234, good enough to tie for 23rd place.  Ake and Williams both tied for the 25th spot, as Ake shot a 74, 75 and 86 while Williams had scores of 77, 83 and 75.

 

Senior Keaton Cross (Waxhaw, N.C.) and sophomore Neil Thompson (Sherborn, Mass.) rounded out the Colgate players.  Cross had a 35th place finish shooting an 86, 79 and 76 for a total of 241.  Thompson finished 40th, shooting an 83, 81 and 89.

 

Bucknell’s Andrew Cohen was the top individual of the tournament finishing with a score of 208 (71-68-69).
