Knox Reaches Semifinals at ECAC Championship

PRINCETON, N.J. (5/17/09)— Colgate University senior Curry Knox (Seattle, Wash.) finished 12th in the 100-meter run preliminaries Saturday, May 16 during the second day of competition at the ECAC Championship at Princeton. 

Knox the 2009 Patriot League Female Track Athlete of the Year finished the 100-meter dash in 11.99. Her time qualified her for the semifinals where she ran a 12.20 missing the cut for the finals by .26. Knox posted an NCAA regional qualifying time of 11.70 at the Patriot League Championship and will run again in two weeks in Greensboro, N.C.
 
Knox also competed in the 100-meter hurdles covering the 100-meter stretch of the track in 14.66. She will compete is this event again in two weeks at the NCAA Regional.
 
Knox finished her day as the anchor of the 4x100-meter relay team that finished 18th out of 27 teams. Senior Ashley Mecone (Hopkinton, Mass.), sophomore Michele Miller (Silver Spring, Md.), junior Ashley Niness (Berwyn, Pa.), and Konx, crossed the line with a time of 47.83, their second best time of the season. The squad won the Patriot League Championship earning an automatic berth in the NCAA Regional in Greensboro, N.C.
