HAMILTON, N.Y. (2/7/10)—The Colgate University men’s lacrosse team will begin the 2010 season ranked No. 20 in the USILA Coaches Poll.

Two-time defending national champion Syracuse was dubbed the top team in the nation, according to the poll, while Navy headlined the Patriot League with the 11th spot.

Colgate welcomes back two All-Patriot League selections from a year ago in senior Mike Crown (Winnetka, Ill.) and junior Greg Perkins (Alexandria, Va.), who were both selected to the second team. The Raiders also welcome back senior Ryan McClelland (Brampton, Ont.), who was one of 30 players selected to the Team Canada roster.

At No. 20, Colgate is one of three Patriot League teams in the USILA poll. Navy is ranked No. 11, while Bucknell is ranked No. 19. Army is also receiving votes in the coaches’ poll, which forecasts another competitive year of Patriot League lacrosse.

The Raiders kick off the 2010 season on Feb. 20, at Binghamton. The game is slated to begin at noon.
