Sophomore Year (2009): DeRoo had a stellar first race at the Harry Lang Invitational. Not only did she win the race, dropping over a minute from her freshman year split, but she also was only a second off the course record set by teammate Stacey Marion in 2007.
DeRoo is an active member on Colgate's campus. She works in a Biology lab sequencing DNA and is part of the Colgate Student Pre-Health Association.
Freshman Year (2008): DeRoo began her Colgate Cross Country year with an outstanding performance at the Harry Lang Invitational, finishing second for the team. Her season was cut short due illness.
Before Colgate: DeRoo was a four-year Varsity letter winner and two-season Captain in Cross Country and Outdoor Track. Her senior year, DeRoo was the CT Southwest Conference Champion in both the 3200m and the 1600m. She earned All-State honors for Cross Country and Track and Field her senior year, subsequently receiving the MVP for her Cross Country and Track and Field teams. DeRoo ended her High School Career with a personal record of 2:20 in the 800m, 5:02 in the 1600m, and 10:58 in the 3200m.
Off the field, DeRoo was a member of the Interact Club and the National Honors Society.
Personal: Elise DeRoo was born in Havehill, Mass., the daughter of Linda and Donald DeRoo. She has two siblings, Scott and Chris DeRoo.
